Knights of Columbus was chartered by Father Michael J. McGivney in 1882. It is the world’s largest catholic fraternal organization with over 1.8 million brothers and their families in nearly 14,000 councils throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.

The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.

Knights of Columbus provide opportunities to serve in charity and fraternity, for the church at the local, diocesan and universal levels; to our communities and the less fortunate. Supporting seminarians is a priority within the Diocese of Boise.
